Artistic Vision:
The Inverness County Centre for the Arts celebrates the work and
the creators, the art in limitless form and the inspiration
powered by the place we call home, this Cape Breton Island.
Enhancing the experience of physical culture, the Centre will
consider for exhibit, all representations of place and spirit;
work from any global source that is found to be moving and
motivational.
The
foremost goal is to provide a community-based resource for the
County's arts and cultural constituency; develop a strategic
plan to market the area and its artists and enhance both
visitors' and residents' enjoyment of the arts.
The Arts Centre gallery parallels the Council's efforts to
establish the Centre as an important national gallery, one that
will not only provide excellent presentation opportunities to
the artists in our community, but will introduce the community
to significant touring exhibits as well.

Main Gallery (794
sq. ft.)
The
Exhibition Hall is a rectangular space approximately 20 ft by 40
ft. with a cathedral ceiling and an open mezzanine at the north
end. Lighting is on two tracks suspended from the ceiling
running the length of the gallery. The space is climate
controlled for temperature and humidity.
The
Exhibition Hall will present a minimum program of five exhibits
a year, which will be determined by the exhibition committee.
They will include, in order of priority, solo or group exhibits
by local artists, submissions from Cape Breton and other
non-local artists, heritage exhibits, archival material and
collections and national or international touring exhibits. The
Centre's exhibition guidelines and policies are available for
download in pdf format.

Outer Gallery (436
sq. ft.)
The
Corridor Gallery serves various functions and is operated less
formally than the Exhibition Hall. This space is used to present
for sale paintings that cannot be accommodated by the Gallery
Shop. It is also available to community and non-profit groups
for special exhibits. E.g. the Inverness County annual Show of
Hands, a two-day, artist-run show held during the Inverness
Gathering week at the end of July.
In
addition to the Galleries, we offer a spacious, naturally lit
studio to host seminars, demonstrations and instructional
classes. The inspiring ocean views make the studio a perfect
setting for private studio space.
