Poured Curved Paintings
Rosine Cubitt, Main Gallery

These paintings represent Rosine’s interest in the relationship
between gravity, friction, the liquidity of paint and the curvature
of the canvas. (Support for this project by the Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage.)

Hidden Treasures
curated by Pat Johnston and Nina Seybolt,
Outer Gallery

Paintings, drawings and sculpture have been gathered in the search
for the unknown artists who live and work on Cape Breton Island.
The artists involved in this exhibit have, for the most part, neither shown
or sold their work before. Thus it is with great pleasure that we reveal
some of the Island’s undiscovered and hidden creative energies.
Opening Reception June 6th, 2-4 P.M.

Inspired by Nature
Woodcuts by Eve Stockton, Main Gallery
www.evestockton.com

Eve Stockton’s wood cuts are inspired by a close observation of nature
and an eclectic interest in science. This exhibit contains prints that are
exemplary of Eve’s ongoing investigation of the natural world. Whether
micro or macro in scope, nature’s energy is evoked by the abstracted
shapes and chromatic layering in each print.

Musing Moments
Wood sculptures by Rudolf Henninger, Main Gallery
www.rudolf-henninger.com

In this exhibit Rudolf Henninger, known for his stone sculptures, features
new work in wood. The wooden figures reflect the artist’s interpretation
of people as they come to a standstill in their daily lives. The viewer is
invited to imaginatively complete the apparent raw sculpting process,
with its unfinished, unpolished surfaces, and initiate his or her own process
of self contemplation for which Henninger feels our modern world
allows little time.

Very Secret Bears
Paintings by Joanne MacDonald, Outer Gallery

Finding delight in the world around her and having the eye of a keen
observer, Joanne MacDonald paints with gusto, whimsy and the sheer
joy of being alive.
Opening Reception August 8th, 2-4 P.M.

Field Works
by Ceramist Fenn Martin and Painter Nicholas Johnson,
Main Gallery www.nicholasjohnson.ca

“Field Works” is an imaginary tale of rural life and labour rendered in a
unique combination of clay and paint. This new series from the “Ohio
Project” traces the story of agrarian demise in rural Nova Scotia. Our
protagonist, a scyther, practices an outdated ritual amidst bizarre and
surreal environments of industrialized progress.

Apricity
Ken Lywood, Outer Gallery
New works by well known local artist.
Opening Reception October 3rd, 2-4 P.M.
